Library Hotspots
Parkland County Libraries is excited to now be lending library hotspots, designed for those who do not have home internet access. These hotspots can be checked out, just like any other item, from your nearest library for a period one week. Visit your nearest library to pick up a hotspot, or contact your library to place a hold if all of the devices are currently checked out.
WHO CAN BORROW A LIBRARY HOTSPOT?
To borrow a library hotspot, you must be over 18 years of age and have a local library card in good standing.
HOW LONG CAN I BORROW A HOTSPOT?
Hotspots can be borrowed for a period of one week. If all devices are currently checked out, you can place a hold for the device. Talk to your local library staff to place a hold.
WHERE DO I RETURN THE DEVICE?
Please return the hotspot to library staff during library hours.
WHAT ARE THE OVERDUE AND LOST FEES?
Please return hotspots by the due date. If the hotspot is not returned, the data connection will be disabled and an overdue fee of $2/day will be added to your account. If the item is lost or damaged, the full cost ($250) will be charged to your account.
WHAT KIND OF DATA PLAN DOES THE DEVICE COME WITH?
The hotspot comes with unlimited data. It uses a cellular signal to provide internet access.
WHAT IF MY AREA HAS POOR CELL COVERAGE?
Unfortunately, if you live in an area of Parkland County that has poor cellular coverage, the hotspot may not work at your home. Please inform library staff if this is the case so that we can communicate this information to Parkland County. As an alternative, all library locations have free wireless internet and computer stations that we encourage you to use.
